Who We Are

We're a bunch of people – explorers, craftspeople, and thinkers – who reckon that when it comes to gear, it's gotta work, no exceptions. We're all about making matches and fire starters that light up, period. Even if the world's falling apart around you.

We're crazy about firecraft, surviving, and being outdoors. We don’t just slap together matches; we build confidence. Yeah, the type that keeps you toasty on a chilly night, shows you the way in a storm, and chills you out when nature gets tough.

From the get-go right down to the last bit of ash, our job is to make sure anyone, anywhere, can count on a flame when it really counts.

How We Got Started

Our story didn't kick off in some factory. Nah, it was out in the sticks. We spent a ton of time camping and trekking, and we realized something: even the best stuff has its weak points. And when it came to starting fires, the match was usually the dud.

Too many times, regular matches gave up when things got rough – dampness, rain, cold messing with your fingers. We needed a fix! That annoyance sparked what would turn into our company’s motto: make fire starters that just plain work, every time.

It started small – messing around with wax on match heads, seeing how coatings held up in rivers and storms, tweaking how they burned. It grew from there into something based on know-how, real-world experience, and staying alive.

As time went on, we got better at what we did, tested harder, and cared even more. What you get now is a product that's made to last and to work. Basically, it's a flame that can handle anything, trusted by campers, explorers, and rescue teams.

What We're Trying to Do

We want to make fire-starting tools that people can count on, that are safe, and that don't wreck the planet. That way, people can live, travel, and explore without worrying.

For us, fire is more than just heat or light. It means toughness, being safe, and connecting with others. So from being stuck in the wilderness to getting ready at home, we’re here to make sure you've got fire when you need it most.

We make stuff for people who don't let bad weather boss them around. So whether you’re hiking across ice, camping with your family, sailing rough seas, or bracing for a bad situation, our matches are built to work when other stuff fails.

What We Believe In

You can count on it. Do the right thing. Don't trash nature.

That's what guides every choice we make.

You can count on it means we make things that work when you're up against it. Each match is made to stand up to dampness, wind, and plenty of time.

Doing the right thing means we make tools that don't hurt people or the earth. That means safe stuff, packaging you can recycle, and making things the right way.

Don't trash nature means we get that our stuff is there to help people have fun outdoors safely and without harming the planet.

We believe in gear that you can trust. When you're far from civilization, trust is everything.

How We Make Stuff

We make our waterproof matches by mixing old-school ways with how things are done now. Every match starts with wood or something like it. We pick it for being the same every time, lasting, and coming from renewable sources.

We coat the match head with special stuff that lights easy. Then, we seal it to keep water away. After that, even if it's been underwater or in dampness for a long time, it'll still light and stay lit.

We keep a close eye on how things are made and check every match by hand. We test how long they burn, how fast they light, and how long they stay lit in the wind in controlled settings and the real world. This lets us make a match that lights in the rain, burns in the wind, and stays lit long enough to get a fire going when conditions are awful.

Real-World Research and Testing

We don’t just test in a lab — we test where it counts. Our research teams work with outdoor leaders, survival instructors, rescue teams, and explorers in all sorts of places. From rainforests to deserts, stormy coasts to icy mountains, our waterproof matches are tested to the max.

We base every change we make on what we learn. We get feedback, check how things work, and change stuff to make our products better. This makes sure our tools aren’t just made for the outdoors — they’re made by the outdoors.

Taking Care of the Planet

We know we’ve gotta do what’s right for the planet. That’s just part of how we make stuff.

Earth-friendly stuff: We use wood from renewable places, coatings that are kind to the earth, and packaging that isn't plastic.

Packaging that can be recycled: Our containers and wrapping can be used again or easily recycled.

Making things efficiently: We cut down on waste and energy use whenever we can by using up-to-date ways of making stuff.

Getting stuff the right way: We work with people who care about the environment and treat their workers right.

We aim to make stuff that lasts. That means you don't need to replace it all the time, which means less waste and a smaller footprint on the earth.

More Than Just Fire: Teaching and Helping the Community

We think having the right stuff goes hand in hand with knowing how to use it. That's why we teach people about outdoor safety, how to handle fire, and how to survive in a way that doesn't hurt the planet.

On our blog and in our guides, we share tips on:

Making fires safely when it's wet

Camping in a way that doesn't mess things up

Getting ready for bad situations and being self-sufficient

Living outdoors in a way that doesn't hurt the planet

We also team up with teachers, youth programs, and outdoor groups to show the next generation of adventurers the importance of being safe, respecting nature, and taking care of it.

Because knowing how to use your tools is just as important as having them.

Always Getting Better

Even though we’re great at making waterproof matches, we’re always looking for ways to make our stuff better. We’re checking out sustainable fire-starting ways, coatings that don't hurt the planet, and tools that mix old ways with new ones.

We want to mix old-school survival tools with the fancy stuff from the 21st century. That way, we can make gear that uses the best of both worlds.

As we grow, we’re staying focused on one thing: giving you fire-starting tools that you can count on, that are made the right way, and that don’t mess up the planet.

Why This Matters

Fire isn’t just about staying alive. It’s about connecting with other people. It’s about the warmth that makes people gather after a long day outdoors, the comfort that chases away the dark, and the thing that turns oh no into I got this.

We make waterproof matches because we know that, when it really counts, the smallest flame can make a huge difference.

When you light one of our matches, you’re doing more than just starting a fire. You're lighting up years of know-how, testing, and hard work. You’re holding a tool made by people who really care about you being safe, having fun, and being free to explore.

Our Promise to You

We promise to keep getting better, trying new things, and listening to the people who use our stuff. We promise to be open, honest, and use the best quality materials in everything we do.

We stand by every match because we know what it means to depend on one.

So whether you’re way out in the wilderness, stuck in a storm, or just getting ready for whatever life throws at you, we’re here to make sure you never have to think twice about your fire.

Because when it comes to starting a flame — it's gotta light, no questions asked.
